De Blauwe Hollander (The Blue Dutchman) has opened her doors on April 1st 1979. The name “Blauwe” refers to the blue uniforms worn by the Dutch marines who were sent to Indonesia and Suriname to remain as permanent representative of the Netherlands.
Interestingly enough, Dutch cuisine got more appreciated by the men above the sea, because it made them nostalgic and tempered their desire for the Netherlands.
We, ‘Restaurant De Blauwe Hollander’ work with seasonal products such as Dutch asparagus and Curly Kale as a swell in the season. In addition to working with seasonal products, we also work with excellent WEEK SPECIALS in the restaurant.
We offer our guests the old authentic Dutch dishes including stamppot and the world-famous hearty pea soup (snert).
For our vegetarian guests, we also offer different meals. Our famous vegetable pie with goat cheese and homemade ketchup is therefore well received by our vegetarian guests.
This world-famous restaurant, located on Leidseplein in Amsterdam is now more than 30 years old and has had several owners. But Dutch cuisine has always managed to maintain the typical existence and authenticity of the food.
